BURGLARS BUSY AT RAVENNA

Plunder from General Store of Conklin & Easton Carried Away, Supposedly in Wagon.
------------

The village of Ravenna was visited by burglars Sunday night. The general store of Conklin & Easton was entered and several hundred dollars worth of goods carried away.

The store is situated on the main street of the village and adjoins an alley. The robbers broke a window in the front door, then entered the store and opened the side door into the alley.

Wagon used by the Burglars.
It is believed the robbers had a horse and wagon in front of the store and that the goods were carried from the side door to the rig. Many tracks in the alley indicated that that was the manner in which the burglars had worked. The wagon tracks in front of the store were soon lost in the many traces of travel in the center of the street.

The robbers stole a quantity of dry goods, clothing, hats, caps, boots, shoes, and dress goods. They took all the collar and cuff buttons in the show case.

Instead of a lamp the robbers used matches to guide them in their work and two-thirds of a box of them were found on the floor where they had been thrown after they had been used.

Slot Machine Is Rifled.
A slot machine was opened and a few pennies taken from it. A safe in the store was left unmolested.

Deputy Sheriff Carl A. Stauffer was notified as soon as the robbery was discovered and word was also sent to Sheriff Payne. He dispatched Deputy Sheriff James to the scene of the burglary and together the two officers began work on the case.

The firm that was robbed in composed of Oscar A. Conklin and George Easton.
